Hi Kari,

My name is Rick Filipkowski and I am a student at the University of Minnesota in the English teacher preparation program. As part of one of my classes on literacy, my instructor has asked us to make some comments on your blog postings. So, if you see my name on your stuff, don't be alarmed :)

-------

So, I noticed that you have a mind map of the character Rita Cardenall. How is this? What book are they from?

Also, I noticed that you created this mind map with a piece of computer software. Was the program you used called "Inspiration"? I ask because for one of my courses, I too had to use "Inspiration" to create a mind map. Whether you used the "Inspiration" program, or another type of mind mapping software, I have a few questions for you about what you thought about it. I'm asking you these questions because I found the program a potentially useful tool in the classroom, and I want to get a real students opinion about it :)

First, did you find the mind mapping tool "useful" ? (and by useful, please interpret that as whatever 'useful' means to you). Why or why not?

Did you use it as part of a required class project / assignment, or did you use it for fun?

Would you use it again? For another class?

Any other feedback you have about using the mind mapping program from your perspective as a student would be really helpful for me :)

Again, nice to meet you Kari, and I look forward to blogging with you.
