Twilight by Stephenie Meyer p. 260-285
Chapter 13 is titled "Confessions" which suits this chapter perfectly. Edward then steps into the sun, and his skin turns into a sparkly, glassy tone. Described in the book as like a marble. Edward confessed in this chapter more of his feelings towards Bella. He said that from the moment he met her that he knew Bella was going to be the most temptation he has ever faced. Edward described it in the book as, "If you locked an alcoholic in a room full of stale beer, he'd gladly drink it. But he could resist, if he wished too, if he were a recovering alcoholic. Now let's say you placed in that room a glass of hundred-year-old brandy, the rarest, finest cognac - and fill the room with it's warm aroma - how do you think he would fare then?" I think this quote describes Edward and Bella perfectly. Edward is aware of what he could do to Bella, and Bella is aware too, but they are just too in love to call it quits. Edward says that he will never do anything to harm Bella, which makes Bella feel good. When Edward and Bella leave the forest, Bella hops on Edward's back and he runs the five miles back to Bella's car in about five minutes or less. Bella is very dizzy, and amazed by Edward's speed. This chapter was also very intimate as far as Edward and Bella's relationship goes, they have never held hands, and the most they've touched is Edward stroking Bella's face once or twice. At the end of the chapter they share their first kiss.
